How worn claws are the enemy of your favourite piece!

Our customers often visit our shop with jewellery repairs – it is after all what we’re famous for!

One of our most common repairs is replacing stones that have fallen out of their settings. Ring claws are tiny pieces of metal that hold your ring’s diamonds or gemstones in place. Over time they can wear down and no longer work to keep your stones secure.

This is precisely what happened to the owner of this beautiful sapphire & diamond ring.

Her worn claws had allowed a stone to fall out without her even noticing.

We re-tipped all her worn claws, tightened up the remainder, and supplied a new matching diamond. Along with a free clean polish, we were pleased to be able return this ring to our customer looking like new!

Did you know that we can check your claws for free? We can check the claws on your jewellery, to make sure they’re still up to the job. We’ve also got a pretty good idea how much more life you might have in your claws, even though they don’t look worn right now. We can then give you an idea of how long to leave it before bringing it in for a claw re-tip.

So, if you’ve got a ring that’s in need of some TLC, call into to our shop at 1 Lands Lane, Leeds. We can check your fittings are secure, so you hopefully don’t end up losing one of your valuable gemstones. If you prefer to call us first, you can get in touch with us here.
